Sports Illustrated Model Hannah Ferguson proved that a girl can have both beauty and brains.

In an interview with Fox411, the model said she was a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and claimed that it would be beneficial if everyone had a better understanding of firearms.

“I feel like it’s good to have gun knowledge. I feel like a lot of people are scared of guns,” Ferguson said. “They think they’re bad and they really don’t know anything about it.”

While she said that she favored background checks and measures to prevent the mentally ill from gaining access to guns, she said that most people who want mass gun confiscation are misinformed.

“I don’t think they should be taken away from people because any bad person who wants to find a gun is going to find a way to get it, and then what?” she continued. “We don’t have a way to protect ourselves? I feel like people should get more knowledge and understanding.”

The 23-year-old model comes from a military family in Texas, both her parents and brother are in the Marines.

“I have a different outlook than most people,” the Texan said. “I actually want to get involved with charities related to the military because I just have a special thing in my heart for all the soldiers and their families.”

Whoever said blondes were dumb never met Ferguson.
