Kendall Jenner has partnered with the conservative website, Independent Journal Review, and voter advocacy organization Rock the Vote, to create a video inspiring millennials to vote in the upcoming presidential election.
Jenner dressed up as a flower child, a grunge kid, and a sophisticated businesswoman in the video to illustrate a history of millennials voting in elections and being involved with politics.
“Every day we vote, we’re able to express our opinions online with ‘Likes’ and hashtags,” Jenner said, according to Rock the Vote’s website. “But it hasn’t always been that easy, especially for women.”
The video references the 26th Amendment which grants 18-year-old’s the right to vote. Jenner donned a flower crown to represent the hippie young people at the time. The video also references the ‘90s, during which presidential candidates saw an increase in their support corresponding to their appearances in media, such as MTV. Jenner dressed a businesswoman to represent the 2008 and 2012 elections during which 20 million young voters “decided the outcome of both elections,” according to the video.
“What happens next is up to you,” the video tells viewers, speaking specifically to millennials, the voting bloc that presidential candidates are desperate to reach.
This is not the first time that the model has teamed up with Rock the Vote to get involved with politics and appeal to millennials. In 2015, she released a video depicting a transition from “suffragette to supermodel” in order to explain the history of how women achieved the right to vote, according to ET.
