CNN reported Tuesday afternoon that there is a leaker besides Edward Snowden who has provided classified U.S. intelligence documents to the media.
“There’s been a lot of speculation in the U.S. government that after Edward Snowden disappeared last year and he turned up in Russia last August, that perhaps there could be others out there who might be leaking information, or who could leak information. Now we know that they’ve determined that there is another leaker out there,” justice reporter Evan Perez said.

Perez cited as proof an article published Tuesday in The Intercept that referenced government documents from Aug. 2013, which was after Snowden had taken refuge in Russia. The article reported that more than 40 percent of 680,000 individuals on a terror watchlist maintained by the government have “no recognized terrorist group affiliation.” 5,000 of those people were identified as Americans.
An accompanying CNN report noted that Glenn Greenwald, an editor of The Intercept, tweeted in July that “it seems clear at this point” there was another leaker.
