University of Miami lecturer: GOP is ‘pro-pedophilia’ and a ‘domestic terror group’

Miami pollster and University of Miami lecturer Fernand Amandi called the Republican Party “pro-pedophilia” and a “domestic terror group” on MSNBC’s “AM Joy” over the weekend. He noted that Americans should “consider possibly … locking them up” after voting Republicans out of office.

Amandi has been an instructor for the University of Miami’s Department of Political Science since the fall of 2013 and an instructor at Miami-Dade College School for Advanced Studies, a collegiate high school, since fall 2012, according to his LinkedIn profile.

During his rant Saturday morning, Amandi also called the Republican party “pro-Putin” and “anti-children.”

Another panelist, GOP consultant Katon Dawson, dismissed Amandi’s claims.

“Children matter no matter what side of the aisle you’re on. You can make it as political as you care to …” Dawson stated.

Amandi’s hyperbolic accusations have received major blowback, but he has doubled down, tweeting, “I believe the facts & their record of willful destruction & purposeful decay over the last decade, supports the premise.”

The educator also tweets about “resistance homework” and has recently used the hashtag #RepubliKLANParty.

Micaela Stoner, a student at the University of Miami, called Amandi’s comments “pretty upsetting.”

“As a lecturer or professor at UM Amandi should be nurturing students to make their own decisions and formulate their own opinions based on their own experiences and research. Through these words he has alienated a large segment of the UM student body, one of which I am happy to belong to,” Stoner told the Washington Examiner. She continued, “He has shown through his words that he is not fit to teach at UM because he cannot tolerate differences in opinion and thought amongst his students, and UM is a very diverse school, not only in color and ethnicity but in beliefs too.Stoner added, “One of UM’s core values states that ‘We are absolutely committed to freedom of inquiry—the freedom to think, to question, to criticize, and to dissent’ and frankly, Amandi is going directly against this mission statement and is hurting the education system at UM by insinuating that his Republican, conservative thinking students belong to a ‘domestic terrorist group.'” Students across the state level are taking notice.

“Mr. Amandi represents what is wrong with the liberal elite in Florida’s politics,” Sam Mascaro, Chief of Staff for the Florida Federation of College Republicans, told the Washington Examiner. “His comments should be taken as a representation of the regressive state that the Florida Democratic Party is in following years of historic losses from local to statewide offices. While Mr. Amandi will spout off illiterate nonsense on MSNBC, Florida Republicans will continue to fight for a better tomorrow through private sector growth,” Mascaro continued.

Amandi’s 10 a.m. to noon weekday radio show broadcasting in the Miami area was canceled earlier this year, due to “cost-cutting measures.” He was replaced by conservative radio personality, Brian Mudd.

Author’s note: I’ve debated Fernand Amandi on two different occasions on two different South Florida radio shows. Both times, his comments and analysis were equally as absurd and nonfactual as his recent statements on MSNBC.
