The Internal Revenue Service admitted Friday that it had lost two years of emails from ex-official Lois Lerner amid a congressional investigation of the organization’s targeting of conservative groups. What do ABC and NBC have to say about this? Apparently nothing, despite the ongoing controversy surrounding the IRS for its scrutiny of Tea Party groups.

As noted NewsBusters, ABC’s “World News with Diane Sawyer,” “NBC Nightly News” and “CBS Evening News” all neglected the bombshell on Monday night in favor of stories about Starbucks, Britain’s little prince and the always newsworthy Alex Trebek.

Though “CBS This Morning” did give the issue some play in the earlier hours of Monday, hosts of ABC’s “Good Morning America” and NBC’s “Today” remained equally silent on the issue.

CNN’s John King more adequately spotlighted the IRS’ admission, and his disbelief of it, on Monday morning. He even invoked the imaginary characters of the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus to express his skepticism of the computer crash that ate Lois Lerner’s emails.

Perhaps these news organizations are simply sick of covering Obama administration scandals. They’ve surely grown pessimistic reporting on the Department of Veterans Affairs, Benghazi, Obamacare and other buzz-worthy controversies. Prince George’s first strides certainly make more of a difference in American lives; one small step for a British royal, one giant step for U.S. citizens … right?
