U.S. Presidents celebrated the retirement of David Letterman Wednesday night, even the deceased Gerald Ford had something to say about it.
In a brief clip, Ford’s line, “Our long national nightmare is over,” kicked off playful mockery by four living presidents and the longtime television host.
George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and President Obama all took Ford’s line one step further.
Letterman tried to get in on the action, but Obama wasn’t having it. Retiring after 33 on air doesn’t earn you the same executive privilege as the Oval Office.
