White Mizzou student: ‘Inspect racism in every course,’ Require ‘culturally competent’ class

The epidemic of racism is so unbearable that some white students are now demanding the school require “culturally competent courses” and “inspect racism in every course” — you know how racist algebra can be.

In an interview Wednesday on MSNBC, a white Mizzou student, Joel Dalton, made claims that racism is out of control on campus and demanded action but could give very few examples when asked about the racism.

“So in 1969 the legion of black collegiates formed on campus and they produced a list of demands,” Dalton said. “Within those list of demands I believe less than one-third have been met. So specifically, when talking about what students of color are looking for on this campus and need to have — I mean, it’s not happening. So there aren’t enough faculty of color. We aren’t actually recruiting enough students of color to actually reflect the percentages in our state. And also, just general racist comments. Racism lives here and we allow it. We don’t have any sort of culturally competent courses that are required. No one is asked to inspect racism in every course, so not discussing it.”

The black collegiates’ list of 15 demands included an academic bankruptcy program to allow students so students can erase their grades for a whole semester and $15,000 — which today is nearly $100,000 — dedicated to their organization from the school’s budget.

While minor demands were met, the others were too ridiculous.

As far as Dalton’s claims about student enrollment, 73 percent of Mizzou students are white making it more diverse than the state of Missouri which is 84 percent white. Mizzou faculty are also more diverse than the state’s population.

These complaints are much to do about nothing, and the fact that white students are so quick to jump on the ‘all whites are racist and need re-education’ bandwagon is troubling.
