A Michigan farmer has gone the extra acre to show his support for the Republican presidential ticket. An extra 10 acres, to be exact.
Hank Choate of Liberty Township, Mich. is making headlines for an extraordinary portrait of GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney and Vice Presidential candiate Paul Ryan he commissioned a crop artist Shawn Stolworthy to design in his corn fields.
According to My FOX Detroit, the farmer, who is a county co-chair for the Romney-Ryan campaign, says Stolworthy used a rototiller and GPS to create the portrait.
No details were provided as to how long it took Stolworthy to create the masterpiece or how long it will last, however the report indicated that the crop portrait was completed last Friday.
Romney’s family has a long history in Michigan politics. His father, George Romney, served as Governor in the swing state before running for President in 1968. Mitt Romney’s mother, Lenore Romney was also very political, and was the Republican nominee for Michigan’s U.S. Senate seat in 1970. But President Barack Obama currently leads Romney by 10 points in Michigan, despite Romney’s familial ties there.
Perhaps Choate and Stolworthy’s crop magic will stir up support for the state’s former first son.
