Palin: Illegal aliens get better health care than vets

Former Alaska governor and vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin said on Thursday night’s “Hannity” program that military veterans are worse-off than almost anyone imaginable in the U.S. healthcare system.

Palin asserted that prisoners at Guantanamo Bay are “receiving better care” than veterans after the host cited a figure printed in a military fact sheet on detainee medical care at the detention facility. Hannity also said that there is just one “doctor” for every 35 veterans, prompting Palin to go even further.

“Well, in many respects, illegal aliens in our country today are receiving better health care, more benefits, than some of our troops,” she said.

Palin admonished the VA and the president for the inadequate treatment veterans receive in light of their service.

“[I]sn’t it ironic that those who are willing to sacrifice all to put their life on the line to allow the freedom of choices in health care and economic decisions and everything else, our soldiers, our airmen, our marines — they’re the ones getting screwed by the VA and our commander-in-chief is in charge of this, ultimately.”
