If her wheelchair ad and interracial marriage gaffes didn’t prove it already, Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis showed just how out of touch she is Monday night on “The Daily Show.”
Host Jon Stewart brought his show to Austin, Texas to cover the midterms and invited liberal darling Davis to discuss her campaign and Texas “turning blue.”

Davis said that she wanted to run for governor so she could start a statewide conversation about “public priorities.”
“Why isn’t it a conversation that’s happening in Texas? Or is it a conversation that has happened in Texas, and they truly have decided, ‘No, I appreciate what you’re saying, but this is the way we want it?'” Stewart asked.
She said this election will answer that question, but that so far it “hasn’t been a conversation.”
“We aren’t a part of presidential election-year politics, we haven’t had a really hotly contested general-election statewide race in a very, very long time, and it creates a climate where voters are disengaged, and they’re not being educated about the issues at hand,” Davis said.
“…We’re really encouraged by what we see in terms of the opportunity for a statewide Democrat to actually be elected in this state eight days from now.”
Later on she declared, “I’m going to be governor, Jon.”
Apparently she hasn’t seen all of the polls that the rest of have. Davis is down by double-digits in every measure against Republican challenger Greg Abbott.
