In the midst of one of the worst snowstorms to hit the East Coast in decades, Washington nearly shutdown. The only people willing to show up for work immediately after the “snowpocalypse” were the female senators and their staff.
To put it into perspective, the super majority of the Senate is male, and none of the 83 Senators showed up for work.

Now This released a video on Wednesday showing a speech by Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) on the Senate floor praising her colleagues for showing up to work.
“I think it’s genuinely fabulous,” Murkowski said on the Senate floor. “You look around the chamber, and the presiding officer is female, all of our parliamentarians are female.”
It wasn’t just the Senators themselves. Only the female staff showed up for work as well.
“Our floor managers are female, all of our pages are female,” the Alaska Senator continued. “Now this was not orchestrated in any way, shape, or form. Perhaps it just speaks to the hardiness of women that put on your boots and put your hat on, and get out.”
