Music can change hearts. But it has to be good, and “Run Liz Run” is frankly not good.
The song, released by a group labeled Ready for Warren, urges Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) to run for president in 2016.
Warren is unmoved by the tune.
“I’m going to give you the same answer I have given you many times,” she told the Boston Globe. “There is no wiggle room. I am not running for president. No means no.”
Warren has been the poster child for progressive liberals since her election to the Senate in 2012. Calls for her to run in 2016 have heightened as she has traveled the country over the past few weeks stumping for fellow democrats. The calls reached their peak last Friday when Warren spoke at the progressive Netroots Nation conference in Detroit.
Despite Warren’s repeated claims that she will not run, speculation will continue until the 2016 primaries begin.
Former White House Senior Adviser David Plouffe said in a recent interview that “[Warren] will and should take a hard look” at a 2016 White House bid if Hillary Clinton decides not to run.
But for now, “no means no” according to Warren. Hopefully, no also means no more lame songs, too.
