Though Angelina Jolie can’t quite “imagine” herself in a political career at the moment, she might just “consider” it.

In the NBC News special “Angelina: Unbroken” that aired Tuesday night, the actress responded to questions from Tom Brokaw about her admission to Vanity Fair last month that she would be “open” to a career in politics.

“It’s not something I am actively seeking at this moment,” Jolie explained to Brokaw of a potential political career. “It still would be hard for me to imagine.”

“However,” she added, “if I found that I could be useful, I would consider it.”

Jolie might not be ready for a political career, but she was certainly prepared to make the jump from acting to directing.

Jolie directed the much buzzed-about film “Unbroken” that chronicles the life of Olympic runner and World War II prisoner of war survivor Louis Zamperini. It is set for release on Christmas day of this year.

In addition to acting and directing, Jolie is also a UN High Commissioner for Refugees director and special envoy.

During the interview with Vanity Fair last month, Jolie described herself as “open” to a political career.

“When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered,” she explained. “Because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility.”

“But I honestly don’t know in what role I would be more useful — I am conscious of what I do for a living, and that [could] make it less possible,” Jolie added.
