Sorry Rubio: Cuba may be hottest new travel destination for Millennials

America’s illusive neighboring island, for years off-limits to tourists, is drawing a new generation of curious admirers. According to a new survey for Switchfly Inc., 46% of Millennials are interested in traveling to and touring Cuba.

“Cuba is super cool” said Daniel Farrar, CEO of Switchfly, Inc. “Looking at the pictures of Cuba it’s a virtual time warp of a visual paradise that I think a lot of people especially millennials want to experience.”

Despite it’s proximity -only ninety miles from the coast of Florida — American travelers have been prohibited from visiting for decades, but since the opening of a U.S. embassy in Havana this past September, travel restrictions have been loosened and ‘destination Cuba’ made a reality.

The “visual paradise” of the illusive country is only part of it’s draw. Farrar told Fox Business that Millennials, unlike their older Baby Boomer counterparts, are “looking for travel experiences with a desire to explore.”

“When you think about Cuba how much more adventurous can you get? It’s a place were you can have an experience where frankly many people have not had the chance to do” Farrar said.

While these “adventurous Millennials” are saying they want Cuba to be their next passport stamp, the same poll explained that of those desiring a Cuban visit, 35% would wait 2-5 years for all the “kinks” to be worked out.

Sorry, Marco Rubio — looks like younger voters don’t share your views on Cuba.
