Get ready to break out the tissues for one of the sweetest stories of the year.

U.S. Army veteran Justin Lansford lost his leg during in 2012 while serving in Afghanistan. He had bilaterally severed femurs and doctors were forced to amputate his left leg.

Buzzfeed reported that a year later he received his service dog Gabe who played a critical role in his recovery, helping him opening doors, picking up items, and catching Lansford when he fell down.

Gabe was even carrying an engagement ring when Lansford proposed to his wife Carole.

So during the wedding Gabe served as Justin’s best man, even wearing a miniature army uniform decorated with his owner’s medals.

A man, his wife, and his dog–can’t ask for much more.
