Podcast host Joe Rogan slammed Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams over her claim that a fetal heartbeat at six weeks is a “manufactured sound.”
Rogan questioned Abrams’s thinking during his Joe Rogan Experience podcast Wednesday, calling it “crazy, cult talk.”

“When you have people like Stacey Abrams saying that a fetal heartbeat is an illusion,” Rogan said. It’s “established biology. This is wild, ideological, crazy, cult talk,” he continued.

Abrams is an outspoken critic of Georgia’s “heartbeat” bill that went into effect after the overturn of Roe v. Wade in June.
During an event at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center in Atlanta last week, Abrams declared that “there is no such thing as a heartbeat at six weeks.”
“It is a manufactured sound designed to convince people that men have the right to take control of a woman’s body,” the Georgia gubernatorial candidate said.
“Just that statement alone should discredit you to the point where people should never listen to anything you ever say again,” Rogan said. “Who’s manufacturing … what does that mean?”
“She supports no limits on abortion,” Rogan added. “Umm, that’s crazy, too. Because you’re saying, like, eight months and four weeks. Or eight months and three weeks, rather, like right before the kid’s coming out? That’s OK?”
While scientists disagree about when a fetal heartbeat can be first detected during a woman’s pregnancy, the American Pregnancy Association explains that a “fetal pole or even a fetal heartbeat” may be heard through an ultrasound at about six weeks gestation.

The hot topic of abortion has become a rallying cry for Democrats across the country ahead of the midterm elections. Abrams is facing Republican incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp in a rematch for Georgia’s governorship following her loss to him in 2018. According to a recent Real Clear Politics polling aggregate, Abrams is trailing Kemp by 6.6 points.
