A transgender swimmer who competed as a male for the first three years of college is set to break national and maybe even international records set by biological women.
The Left would have us believe this total destruction of female competition and accomplishment is an example of “progress.” But the sane majority knows better. People are finally beginning to speak up.
Last week, a longtime USA Swimming official resigned from her position of 30 years, saying she could no longer work for or support an organization that would allow a swimmer with the physical advantages of a biological male to compete against women under the guise of “fairness.”
“I can’t do this. I can’t support this,” Cynthia Millen wrote in her resignation letter. “I told my fellow officials that I can no longer participate in a sport which allows biological men to compete against women. Everything fair about swimming is being destroyed.
Millen is right. The women competing against Lia Thomas don’t stand a chance. Thomas has crushed every female athlete in competition, breaking multiple U.S. women’s swimming records. In one race, Thomas beat the second-place swimmer by 38 seconds. A video of the race shows Thomas lapping opponents several times. As I’ve written before, that’s like expecting a teenage girl to be able to hold a block against a 250-pound male linebacker. It’s absurd.
https://twitter.com/MattWalshBlog/status/1470978594256130050?ref_src=twsrc%5EtfwIt would be nice to see some of Thomas’s teammates stand up for themselves publicly, but Millen is also right that “the adults in the room,” the officials who implemented and are in charge of enforcing this policy, bear the blame and are therefore responsible for fixing the problem they created.
“People are saying, ‘Why don’t the swimmers just leave?’” she said. “Well, those are 19-, 20-year-old kids. It’s up to us. We’re the ones who are supposed to be providing this fair competition. [Swimming officials] should be the ones who should be saying, ‘Wait a minute.’”
I hope that other swim officials follow Millen’s lead and quit the organization or at least refuse to officiate meets in which biological male swimmers try to compete against women. Because unless we stand up to the radicalism of transgender ideology now, the real harm it is doing to women will spread past the swimming pool and past the University of Pennsylvania.
