Redskins Landry remains limited; Young sits out

Strong safety LaRon Landry said he still hasn’t fully tested his hamstring and remains a game-time decision Monday.

Landry said his hamstring was around “70 to 80” percent.

“He couldn’t go full speed yet,” coach Mike Shanahan said. “I have to have a good feel that he can last the whole game or have a chance and not set himself back. I don’t want to play him and all of a sudden he pulls it on the second or third play of the game and we lose him for six weeks. He’ll have to show me something to play.”

Landry has not participated in a full practice since training camp opened. He’s strained his hamstring twice in the past five weeks, both times when he tested it full-go. It didn’t help that it rained, again, leaving the conditions slick.

“In the NFL, you’ll never be 100 percent,” Landry said. “It’s all about how comfortable I feel when I’m out there performing. I’m still making progress. It’s up to [Shanahan] to protect the players and put the players out there who are able to perform and help the team win. If I can’t do that then I’m more than sure he’s not going to let me play. The ball’s in his court.”

On Thursday, Landry said, “You’ll see me Monday” and that he felt “great.”

Meanwhile, cornerback Josh Wilson also was limited in practice because of back, neck and head injuries suffered in the win over Arizona. Fullback Darrel Young did not practice because of a hamstring issue. Fullback Mike Sellers (ankle) and safety DeJon Gomes (hamstring) also did not practice.
