When Sallie Bunce heard the McDonald?s LPGA Championship was coming to her own backyard at Bulle Rock Golf Course, she couldn?t help but volunteer.
Bunce, of nearby Bel Air, is the marshal captain for the 18th hole. She was stationed at the tee box for the final drive Wednesday.

Bunce volunteered last year in Havre de Grace, and volunteered when the event was at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del.
Upon hearing that holes were open, and the 18th hole had yet to gain a sponsor, Bunce jumped at the chance. “I said, ?We?ll take eighteen,? ” Bunce said. “The rest of [the work] was just getting volunteers.”
There are about 1,500 volunteers working at Bulle Rock for the tournament.
“I highly really recommend it to everybody. It is for a good cause,” Bunce said. “It is a big commitment.”
Bunce was joined by Sally Raphel, of Abingdon, who manned the 18th green last year.
“Oh, it was great,” said Raphel, who was on the 18th green for the end of the 2005 championship. Raphel said last year?s crowd was well behaved, but the photographers were rather pushy in the final round.
Hampstead resident Greg Jugo has been employed by McDonald?s for ten years and is spending some of his vacation time volunteering in a transportation capacity. Through Wednesday afternoon, he hadn?t driven any golfers, but had shuttled numerous sponsors in the Pro-Am.
“I am on the que,” Jugo said. “I pick up whomever and whenever. I got my phone on vibrate and when it happens I just zoom.”
Annapolis resident Cindy Mast, stationed at the 16th tee, noted that Wednesday was pretty calm, just one day before the madness is to begin.
“It?s only been busy when Michelle Wie comes through,” said Mast, shortly after Wie and her following left the tee box.
