Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey protest for changes in vaccine safety in D.C. – Paul Morigi/WireImage
He has been called many things (pet detective, Fireman Bob), but Jim Carrey is now the Vaccine Whisperer.

Along with girlfriend Jenny McCarthy, the funnyman led a march Wednesday from the Washington Monument to the Capitol in order to draw attention to vaccine safety; specifically McCarthy and Carrey’s charge that toxins in vaccines cause autism and other diseases (McCarthy’s son has suffered from autism).
“How stupid do you think we are?” asked Carrey, directing his question at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (OK, not exactly whispering). “I made a movie about two dumb guys,” said Carrey, referring to his 1994 comedy “Dumb and Dumber.” “Nobody is this stupid.” He then surmised that drug companies are suffering from “restless leg syndrome — also known as lazy ass disease. But, hey, I’m not a cynic. …”
For McCarthy’s part, the former Playboy Playmate of the Year and TV star encouraged the crowd to “get closer. Get your asses down here. We aren’t at the Marriott or the Hyatt. This is not a convention; we’re at the nation’s capital!” One rally sign read “Jenny for President,” but she did not express any desire to join the 2008 presidential race.
The two stars have an advantage over the common Washingtonian when it comes to braving humid weather: McCarthy had an assistant touching up her makeup throughout the march in order to counter every bit of perspiration. Carrey didn’t need any assistance; his hair stays naturally wavy (maybe he should run for Senate).
Other notables on the scene included Reps. Dan Burton, R-Ind., Dave Weldon, R-Fla., and Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y.; and activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Kennedy admitted that he “did not want to get involved with this issue,” but he attested that mercury needs to be controlled in every way possible. “I have made a profession of reading phony science,” he said.
After Kennedy’s speech, one mom blurted out in admiration, “Can I kiss you now?”
If you didn’t catch McCarthy and Carrey Wednesday, you might have spotted the couple late Tuesday on their midnight tour of Washington’s myriad monuments.
At about 10:30 p.m., the two — adorned with the requisite security guards — toured the Lincoln, Jefferson and Vietnam memorials, as well as the U.S. Capitol and the Supreme Court. Their sightseeing lasted overtwo hours and then the two retired to their room at the Mandarin Oriental.
