Davies nets two more goals and an assist for D.C. United

Well then, that about clinches it for Charlie Davies and D.C. United. With two more goals and an assist in United’s 4-0 preseason victory over the Trinidad & Tobago under-20s on Saturday morning, Davies appears to have done enough to convince D.C. United to complete his signing on a year-long loan from French club Sochaux. According to a source, the deal is “in the works now.” It could take a few days for things to be completed.

Davies got all of his points during an eight-minute span in the second half of today’s match after not playing in the first half. With D.C. already up, 1-0, on a goal from Joseph Ngwenya, Davies combined with Chris Pontius to feed Kurt Morsink in the 68th minute. Davies then scored himself in the 69th and 75th minutes. The rest of the details from the match can be found here, but here are the lineups:

First half: Chase Harrison; Jed Zayner, Rodrigo Brasesco, Perry Kitchen, Marc Burch; Andy Najar, Clyde Simms, Dax McCarty, Branko Boskovic; Joseph Ngwenya, Josh Wolff

2nd half: Joe Willis; Chris Korb, Julius James, Conor Shanosky, Daniel Woolard; Santino Quaranta, Kurt Morsink (Yang Men 76′), Brandon Barklage, Andy Najar (Blake Brettschneider 60′); Charlie Davies, Chris Pontius

United will return to Washington tomorrow and then depart for a 10-day trip to Southern California on Feb. 16.
