Picking some NFL leading candidates

It’s always fun to look at the league leaders just two weeks into the season. Bills running back Fred Jackson is the NFL’s leading rusher and Panthers rookie quarterback Cam Newton has thrown for 845 yards. But which surprise players have some staying power atop the league leaders?

Titans WR Kenny Britt »

Matt Hasselbeck has found his go-to receiver in Tennessee. Britt is second in yards (271) and tied for fourth in targets (23). The 6-foot-3, 215-pound wideout has always been a red-zone threat but now is being looked at all over the field.

Packers RB James Starks » After helping lead the Packers to the Super Bowl, Starks was rewarded with backup duties to start the season. But with Starks averaging 6.8 yards a carry (third highest in the league), it will be tough to limit his touches.

Lions QB Matthew Stafford » As long as he stays healthy, the former top pick has the talent to be among the leading passers in the league. After two weeks, he has thrown an NFL-best seven touchdowns.
