Leave it to a former Maryland football player, Tony Logan, to best sum up an 81-74 victory over Texas A&M by the Terrapins women in the NCAA Sweet 16. “Thomas and Mincy = Le?bron and Dwade!!” Logan wrote on Twitter, comparing Maryland sophomores Alyssa Thomas and Laurin Mincy to the Miami Heat stars.
Before you laugh, consider the numbers for Thomas (21 points, nine rebounds, five assists) and Mincy (21 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks). While Thomas made like the quintessential point-forward, Mincy hit seven of eight shots in one of the most efficient and dynamic individual efforts in program history.

On a day when the Terps trailed the defending national champion Aggies by 18 points in the first half, Maryland needed transcendent stuff from its two stars. The Terps were still down by 10 with less than 10 minutes left when Mincy made a three-point-play in transition. That ignited a closing 21-4 run, which put No. 2 Maryland (31-4) in the regional final against No.?1 Notre Dame (33-3).
