Coach Frank Beamer and No. 13 Virginia Tech have every reason to feel better about their running game after rolling up 444 yards against Marshall last week.

The Hokies had more yards by the end of the first quarter than they managed in their loss to No. 4 Alabama the previous week. Ryan Williams and David Wilson both ran for more than 160 yards, marking the first time in school history that two runners hit that mark in a game.

As the Hokies prepare to face No. 19 Nebraska at Lane Stadium on Saturday, quarterback Tyrod Taylor says last week’s effort will help the Hokies’ passing game this week.

Virginia Tech finished with 605 yards against Marshall after having just 155 against Alabama.
