Wizards coach Wittman has bet with Wall

Randy Wittman and John Wall had a bet going the last time their respective alma maters met earlier this season, when Indiana handed Kentucky its first defeat of the year 73-72.

They’ll do the same for the rematch between the South Region’s No. 1 and No. 4 seeds in the Sweet 16 on Friday.

“We did last time so it’s double or nothing,” said Wittman, but he wouldn’t reveal what’s at stake.

“He won’t tell me the bet neither,” Wall said. “He just said it’s a bet.”

With the latest encounter taking place in Atlanta, Wittman said he has good vibes, having spent a good portion of his NBA career there.

Wall, meanwhile, is also pulling for a number of fellow Raleigh, N.C., natives. His former high school teammate, C.J. Leslie, led North Carolina State’s upset of Georgetown, and he’s close with Marquette’s Darius Johnson-Odom and Xavier’s Dezmine Wells.

“I just wish them the best of luck,” Wall said. “I’m glad to finally see C.J. playing like I know he can play.”
