Monday morning meet and eat

Each week, Yeas & Nays heads to various power breakfast spots around the city to see which players are getting their day started with deal-making, networking and glad-handing.

As is to be expected in the days leading up to Christmas, the breakfast crowd at the Four Seasons was thin on Monday. Qorvis’ David Bass joined us at table 52 to help with the scouting.

Madeleine Albright turned a number of heads when she made an entrance into the restaurant. The former secretary of state quietly sat alone for 10 minutes before her dining companion arrived. Apparently, when you’re no longer in power, punctuality is optional.

Another “former”: Dan Bartlett. The former counselor to President Bush strutted through the restaurant with a posse of overcoat-clad men …  past Albright without even a “hello” and into the restaurant’s more private Arbor Room. Bartlett joined Public Strategies Inc. in October.

Lobbyist Jeffrey Weiss dined alone (at least as long as we were there) but kept busy on his cell phone.

Don’t miss us at table 52 and at the Hay Adams: “Meet and eat” will let you all enjoy the holidays and we’ll see you out for breakfast in the New Year.
