Laettner is seeking his dream job: Coach

If Christian Laettner gets his wish, a lot of fans around the country will have a new team to hate: whichever team happens to hire him as a coach. We kid, we kid. But, yes, the former Duke star and one-time Washington Wizards player wants to coach.

That dream, ahem, coincides with the fact that his Blue Devil Ventures company recently was successfully sued by Shawne Merriman for $4 million when Laettner and partner Brian Davis defaulted on a $3 million loan by Merriman.

“The ultimate goal is to get a big time head college coaching job,” Laettner told the website LostLetterman.com. “If nothing happens in the college ranks, I’ve got to go to the NBA predraft camp this year in Chicago and let the people in the NBA know that I’m ready to be an assistant coach.”

He knows where he won’t be going.

“I don’t think I’ll get any offers from Kentucky or [Rick] Pitino any time soon,” he said.
