BC-BKN–Heat-LeBron’s Year, BKN

MIAMI (AP) — LeBron James’ best year was 2012, for all the obvious reasons. He got engaged, won an Olympic gold medal, a third NBA MVP award and of course helped the Miami Heat win a championship.

For an encore, he put together his best season.

James’ numbers were off the charts in this now-concluded regular season. He set career-highs in shooting percentage, 3-point percentage, rebounds per game and double-doubles. And he did it taking fewer shots per game than at any point in his 10-year career.

He will almost certainly become a four-time MVP in the coming weeks. And while all that sounds good to James, he will matter of factly say that all that matters to him is becoming a two-time champion.

The Heat open their playoff run Sunday against Milwaukee.
