COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned center Ryan Johansen and defenseman Dalton Prout to their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass.

Top players on the big club, the two are expected to give a boost to the Falcons’ Calder Cup playoffs hopes. Both played in Springfield during the NHL lockout.

Johansen, the No. 4 pick in the 2010 draft, had five goals and seven assists in 40 games with the Blue Jackets this season.

Prout had a goal and six assists and a team-leading +15 plus/minus rating in 28 games with the Blue Jackets this year. He was the club’s seventh pick in 2010.
