Where are they now?: Paul Rabil, Men’s lacrosse

Few freshmen have as big an impact in Division I lacrosse as Rabil did last season. He stepped into a veteran lineup, tallied 23 goals and 14 assists, and helped the Blue Jays to become the first team in eight years to go undefeated en route to an NCAA Division I title. When the season was done, Rabil was named a third-team All-American, an honor matched by only one other freshman in the country.

This season team success hasn’t come as easily but Rabil continues to stake his claim as one of the nation’s best midfielders as the second-leading scorer (14 goals, six assists) for the Blue Jays (5-3).

Rabil’s breakout last season came when he scored four goals in a 12-11 come-from-behind victory at defending national champion Syracuse. This season, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Rabil riddled the Orange again with four more goals in a 14-9 win.

Saturday night at Homewood Field in Baltimore, Rabil leads the No. 8 Blue Jays against No. 6 Maryland (6-3) in the 102nd meeting of the storied rivalry.
