If you’ve been wondering where Jenna Bush has been hiding lately, we have your answer: The bride to be is not only busy planning her May wedding, but she recently traveled to Panama, the place that inspired her to write her first book, “Ana’s Story.”

Speaking to the United Jewish Communities’ “Washington 15” Conference at the Washington Hilton, Jenna said she visited Ana in the Central American country “a couple of weeks ago.”

“I took Ana’s baby to get her final HIV test, which was negative, so that was good,” said Jenna to hearty applause.

She added that Ana asked her not to visit her directly “because the members of her community would associate that this story was about her and they would kick her out of her community” for having HIV.

The first daughter (at least for another 10 months) proved she’s still a draw. Tackling the unenviable final speaking slot of the conference, when many attendees are heading out to catch planes, she nonetheless packed the ballroom with nearly 1,000 conference goers.

Jenna (who sported black slacks and a black top, for those of you who care) also showed a video she narrated on the plight of children in the Third World and the work of UNICEF, and signed books after her speech.

Apparently inspired by the upcoming NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, a couple of fellow University of Texas alums shouted “Hook ’em horns!” as Jenna finished, as they flashed the universal sign for the Longhorns.

Jenna didn’t reciprocate the gesture.
