Rodney Harrison won a lot of games thanks to Tom Brady, having spent six years as his teammate in New England. He won two Super Bowls in part because of Brady. So Harrison, an ex-safety turned analyst, is a little biased when it comes to quarterbacks. But Harrison offered a twist in his thoughts on Sunday’s Super Bowl quarterbacks.
First, his take on the Giants’ Eli Manning: “I’ve seen a tremendous amount of growth from Eli, just looking at how sure he was and not being confident. You see him maturing and showing patience and poise and trust in his teammates. And in the fourth quarter in critical moments he’s stepping up and making those plays. That’s the way you become a leader. That’s when teammates believe in you, and that’s what he’s done.”

Now on Brady: “If you put pressure on Tom and force him outside the pocket to his left, you can rattle him. He’s been off a little bit more this season than in past seasons. I played in two-minute drills vs. Tom [in practices], and if you show him different looks and put pressure on him, he becomes human. We saw that in 2007. In two-minute situations he struggled against the Ravens. You don’t know which Brady you’ll get because he’s been somewhat up and down. It’s been because he hasn’t trusted his teammates and puts a lot of pressure on himself.”
