In questioning former Sen. George Mitchell on Tuesday on his report on steroids in the game, Shays first referred to the “Chicago Blackhawks scandal” (that’s the hockey team, congressman; it’s the Black Sox).
He then asked whether “Mr . Palmeiri’s” drug test came before or after his 3,000th hit. He was, of course,
referring to former Oriole Rafael Palmeiro.
And Rep. Diane Watson, D-Calif., had legislation on the brain during the hearing. At one point, she said “after the session” when she meant to say “after the season.”
