There’s no game-time drama this week with safety LaRon Landry. He’s already been ruled out for Sunday’s game vs. the New York Jets.
Landry was unable to practice this week because of a groin injury suffered in Sunday’s win over Seattle.

“I know it really tore him up. He was hoping that he would be able to go, but [his groin] was a little bit too sore,” coach Mike Shanahan said.
It’s the second game Landry has missed in three weeks. He also did not play vs. Dallas two weeks ago because of a sore Achilles. His Achilles has been an issue since camp opened; he missed the final seven games in 2010 because of this injury. Landry also hurt his hamstring this summer.
“It seems like I’m snake bitten, one injury after another,” Landry said. “So that’s how it’s been for me this season. I’m always going to persevere through anything I do.”
Shanahan said the issues stem from never having the Achilles healed, part of which he said could be attributed to the lockout and the inability to rehab with team trainers.
“He never did get the Achilles completely healed and, when he did fight back, obviously there were some setbacks,” Shanahan said. “Any time you’re set back, it’s hard to get into football shape.
“I’m not sure if he’s ever gotten into the type of shape that he would like to get in, but he’s been working hard to try to come back. He’s just had some nagging injuries that kept him behind.”
Landry is an unrestricted free agent after the season. The Redskins will take his injuries into consideration when discussing whether or not to re-sign him.
The Redskins likely will use all three safeties on Sunday, rotating DeJon Gomes, Reed Doughty and Oshiomogho Atogwe. That’s what they did last week (when Gomes was nursing a bad knee). Atogwe, who has played hurt most of the season, is more effective with fewer snaps.
Also, receiver Terrence Austin (hamstring), defensive end Stephen Bowen (knee), linebacker London Fletcher (ankle) and fullback Darrel Young (concussion) are questionable. All were limited in practice Friday.
For the Jets, defensive linemen Mike DeVito (knee) is out.
