For those of you waiting to see Dennis Kucinich further explain his UFO sightings on “Meet the Press” as part of the Sunday show’s “Meet the Candidates” series, don’t hold your breath.

For those of you hoping to see Mike Gravel lose his cool about, well, anything, on “Meet,” don’t hold out hope.

Although the series aims to have each 2008 presidential candidate on the show, we hear that there is one caveat: You have to be a “major candidate.” And, with both Kucinich and Gravel barely registering in the polls, it’s not likely that they’ll be part of the series.

On a related note: We also hear that both Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney have had an open invitation for months to appear on “Meet” any Sunday for the full hour and have yet to take up the offer.

Are they afraid of Tim Russert’s tough questioning? Fred Thompson appears this week and Sen. Barack Obama is on “Meet” next Sunday.
