The worlds of Washington and Hollywood collided in the ballroom of the Washington Hilton yet again Monday night. But this time, it wasn’t anything as contentious as Sheryl Crow and Karl Rove. It was family.

Rahm Emanuel
, the cursing, former ballet-dancing chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, took to the podium to introduce his brother, a former wrestler and now brash Hollywood agent who was the model for Jeremy Piven’s character on “Entourage.”

Ari Emanuel, who represents Reese Witherspoon, Martin Scorsese and Matt Damon, among others, was in town to be honored by the Lab School of Washington as one of four “outstanding achievers” who have overcome learning disabilities.

Rahm began with some ribbing: “So tonight, I am confident in predicting Ari will be rendered speechless for two reasons: first because he is truly moved by this honor and second, because all his Hollywood writers are on strike.” But then, things turned tender.

“Let me tell you about the Ari Emanuel I know,” said Rahm. “When others see fierceness, I see loyalty. When others see intensity, I see passion” (Take notice, Mr. Piven).

Also honored: D.C.-based chef Robert Wiedmaier, children’s book author Patricia Pollacco and champion skeet shooter John Shima.
