There is a tightly-contested three-way race in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference for baseball.
Archbishop Spalding (9-2) took over sole-possession of first-place in the conference after a 11-4 win over John Carroll last week in Bel Air. The victory gave the team its fifth straight win and its 11th in its last 12 games.
Calvert Hall (8-3) defeated Mount St. Joseph 8-7 on March 24, ending the Gaels? 11-game winning streak. The Cardinals then lost a 8-7 contest to the Gaels (8-2).
With all three teams jockeying for the conference title, Calvert Hall may have to make a late-season push with two critical league games this week against Spalding and Gilman. The Cardinals host a key non-conference game against Riverdale Baptist at 4 p.m., Tuesday.
