The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 to win their third Super Bowl in a down-to-the-wire matchup.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was named MVP of the game after he led his team to a comeback victory, with 182 passing yards and three touchdowns.

Mahomes now has two Super Bowl MVPs and two league MVPs in only five seasons of playing. The quarterback’s second Super Bowl victory and third appearance in four years has sparked discussions of whether the Chiefs have started an NFL dynasty.
“I’m not gonna say dynasty yet — we’re not done yet,” he told Fox Sports’s Terry Bradshaw during the trophy presentation.

The Eagles dominated the first half of the game, leading 24-14 after two quarters. Near the end of the first half, Mahomes appeared to have aggravated his ankle, but it did not seem to hold him back in the second half.
The Chiefs came storming back in the third quarter and eventually took a 35-27 lead in the fourth quarter. The Eagles responded with a touchdown and a two-point conversion, tying the game with 5:15 left in the game. Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker then won the game on a last-minute 27-yard field goal.

The Super Bowl victory is the second title for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid. The duo previously won the Super Bowl in February 2020, with Mahomes being named MVP of the game. Reid also previously led the Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance in February 2005, falling to the Patriots 24-21.
“I’m gonna enjoy this one — this is unbelievable. Philadelphia, you did a great job. It was a great game, but how ’bout those Chiefs,” Reid told Bradshaw during the trophy presentation.
The loss for the Eagles marks the third time the team has lost the Super Bowl, dropping their overall record in the big game to 1-3.

The pregame festivities at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, included country music star Chris Stapleton singing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” while Grammy award winner Babyface sang “America the Beautiful.” Academy Award-winning actor Troy Kotsur signed the national anthem in American Sign Language. Rihanna performed the halftime show.
