Wake up your U.S. fandom with Weezer

It has to be done, really. Just press play, and then read my U.S./Algeria preview.

And then, some more rational final thoughts from D.C. United forward Adam Cristman: “I think they have the confidence now. Sometimes you see that these teams go into the World Cup and they’re tentative. I think these guys know what it takes to get results in the World Cup. I think they’ve played some pretty nice, attacking soccer, at least creating some chances and being dangerous.

“For us, we gotta learn how to not give up goals. Gooch [Onyewu] just doesn’t look a hundred percent to me. I think most of the goals, you just watch him on those plays and think he doesn’t look quite as sharp. That’s what happens. He’s been out for a while and been hurt. He’s a good player and a guy you want on the field, and it’s hard not to put him on the field.”

I’ll be watching the game Wednesday in the media room at Verizon Center — am planning to do my best to stall Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld‘s scheduled 11:30 a.m. press conference for at least 15-20 minutes. We know they’re taking John Wall anyway, right?

Sorry, back to U.S./Algeria. Just press play again.
