Defensive tackle’s lawyer entered arraignment plea
Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth pleaded not guilty through his attorney on two misdemeanor traffic charges, resulting from a Dec. 13 accident that left a Tennessee man unable to walk without help.

Haynesworth did not have to be present for his arraignment in Williamson (Tenn.) County court. His attorney, Glenn Funk, entered the plea. The case will be reviewed April 28.
Haynesworth faces six months in jail and a $500 fine for reckless driving as well as one month in jail and a $50 fine for driving with an expired registration.
Haynesworth, who signed a seven-year, $100-million contract with Washington on Feb. 27, was placed on 30 days probation for driving 103 mph in a 70-mph zone the previous March. Four days later he allegedly was speeding past another car, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a concrete median.
The attorney for Corey Edmondson, Jon Perry, told the Tennessean that his client’s bills could total as much as $350,000.
“I’m not able to move around, or I have to have a walker or wheelchair,” Edmondson, 27, told the Tennessean.
Haynesworth has not commented on the accident, though one Redskins source said he is anxious to do so.
His agent, Chad Speck, has said the accident occurred the morning after it had snowed nearly an inch, leaving the road slick.
“Albert immediately pulled over and called the police,” Speck said. “Albert was completely unaware of any injuries sustained by anyone involved in the accident at the time. Mr. Edmondson’s injuries are unfortunate and Albert certainly wishes him a very speedy recovery. He promptly turned this matter over to his insurance company.”
