As a parting gift for the Wizards, the spirit of former team owner Abe Pollin channeled through the yellow suit worn by his wife Irene to surprisingly garner Washington the top pick in last year’s NBA Draft Lottery. Her wide-eyed look symbolizing the start of the Wizards’ rebuilding process.

John Wall, who became that pick, has agreed to be the Wizards’ representative at the lottery on May 17, knowing that being a talisman could be more difficult that running an NBA offense.

“He said, ‘I guess we’ll see how good I really am,’?” Wizards coach Flip Saunders said. “I said, ‘Yeah, we will.’?”

Undaunted, Wall hopes to grab a little bit more of the Pollin family magic before heading up to Secaucus, N.J.

“I’m going to ask Mrs. Pollin for the yellow jacket, that’s the best thing,” Wall said. “I’ll find something before Tuesday.”
