Manchester, N.H. – “Lord of the Rings” star Viggo Mortensen was one of the bigger celebrities campaigning around New Hampshire on Sunday, as he urged Granite State citizens to back Rep. Dennis Kucinich in the state’s Tuesday primary.

But how does Mortensen feel about backing a guy who has virtually no chance of winning the White House?

“The one thing I hate is when these stars come up to Dennis wearing Obama or Clinton buttons and say, ‘You know I just love you and agree with you on everything, but … ’ ” Mortensen told Yeas & Nays at a Kucinich campaign event in Concord, alluding to the fact that most stars end up compromising their true convictions in order to back a winner. “I don’t mind if they support other candidates, as long as they’re doing it for the right reasons,” Mortensen said. “But to not vote your heart is pretty confounding to me.”

One female fan of Mortensen spotted Kucinich’s wife, Elizabeth, in the room and said, “With Viggo here, she must not be used to being the second-most attractive person in the room.”
