Maryland’s redshirt senior quarterback was named the team’s starter for its season opener on Aug. 30 against Delaware. The 6-foot-1, 209-pounder had been involved in a three-way competition with juniors Chris Turner and Josh Portis. Steffy was sporadic in five starts last season before his season was ended due to a concussion. Steffy completed 70-of-104 passes for 686 yards with two touchdowns against four interceptions.
