Crystal Palace USA finds home at Navy

Maryland?s new professional soccer team, Crystal Palace USA, will play its inaugural United Soccer League season at the 35,000-seat Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, The Examiner confirmed Monday.

The team was originally reported to be playing its home games at Aberdeen’s Ripken Stadium ? home of the Orioles’ short-season Single-A affiliate Aberdeen IronBirds.

Six of the team’s regular season games may be broadcast on a local cable television sports network, Comcast SportsNet. The deal has not been finalized.

Palace will hold a press conference Wednesday at Annapolis stadium to introduce the partnership, as well as introduce some of its members to fans.

The team will compete in the USL’s Second Division.

Palace play opens April 20 in Charlotte before hosting the Cleveland City Stars on May 4 at 7 p.m. in Annapolis.
