In the Gravel pit: All things fringe

Absent votes, poll numbers, coverage or money, fringe Democratic candidate Mike Gravel has turned to his only remaining outlet, the Web, to get his message out.

His campaign has launched www.allthingsgravel.us, described in an e-mail as “a new short video designed to bring to you the authenticity of former Senator Gravel through a series of video spots produced, with the exception of two, by staff members, friends and other non-prodessional [sic] film makers. The spots would have been aired on television if not forthe fact that the campaign does not have the resources to do so.”

In one spot, the narrator intones: “Here’s to the misfits, the troublemakers, the rabble-rousers.”

As the introductory piano chords of John Lennon’s “Imagine” begin to play, the video concludes: “If all of those who find common ground with Senator Gravel vote for him, anything can happen.”
