Towson?s athletic Web site calls Antonio Logan-El the football program?s “highest profile transfer ever.”
Towson coach Gordy Combs agrees with that assessment.

“At this juncture in time, there?s no doubt, he?s the highest profile guy we?ve had in our program,” Combs said. “Hopefully, that doesn?t put any pressure on him.”
Logan-El, a freshman transfer from Penn State, is likely to become Towson?s starter at left tackle this fall.
Combs learned of Logan-El?s decision to transfer to Towson in May, but NCAA rules prohibit college coaches from commenting on recruits until they are enrolled in classes. Logan-El, who grew up in Landover and played at Forestville High School in Prince George?s County, registered for classes on July 5, officially making him a Tiger.
“Part of the reason he came to a 1-AA school ? he didn?t want to sit out another year, he wanted to play,” said Combs, who noted Logan-El was also being recruited by Atlantic Coast conference schools N.C. State and Boston College.
Combs acknowledged not recruiting Logan-El out of high school, saying, “he was a little bit out of our league.”
Combs said his biggest challenge is to treat his newest lineman like a freshman, and not a fifth-year veteran.
“The big thing is that he?s been through a football season at the Division I level. He knows what it takes to prepare himself over the next months before we start. I think he has that advantage,” Combs said. “The biggest thing for him will be to learn the system. That?s what the preseason will be about. He?ll compete for that left tackle spot with Leon Stevenson.”
If Logan-El wins the job, the Tigers will likely redshirt Stevenson, a sophomore.
If Logan-El does in fact win the job, he?ll replace Jermon Bushrod, who was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round of the National Football League Draft. Combs said Logan-El also has the potential to play professionally.
“I never saw him play in high school,” Combs said. “Just the fact that he was recruited by so many Division I schools shows you the type of player he is.”
