Amid recent troubles, Tommy Lee stands up crowd

Just four hours before he was supposed to be the guest of honor at the opening of new Baltimore club Angels Rock Bar on Saturday, bad boy supreme Tommy Lee informed club brass he wasn’t coming.

“It’s been a tough week for him,” said co-proprietor Patrick Osuna. “He got a little upset about some things and decided not to come.”  Those things would be his fisticuffs with Kid Rock at the MTV Music Awards last weekend and rumors that he has quit/was fired from his band, Mötley Crüe.

Also, his tour with friend DJ Aero to clubs around the country — of which the Baltimore gig was one stop — hadn’t been well-received.

So, Osuna said, the club suspended its cover charge for the night, and the evening still “went really well.” The Ravens’ Deuce McAllister and former Raven Tony Gonzales showed, as did a table full of Orioles and 1,200 other people, many of whom dedicated songs to Lee “from Kid Rock.”

Osuna opened the million-dollar club along with fellow D.C. club veterans Richard Eidman and Chuck Koch.
