Don Lemon has on-air meltdown when John Kasich proves insufficiently anti-Trump

President Trump delivered an address Wednesday evening regarding the coronavirus outbreak and the steps the federal government is taking to halt its spread.

CNN’s Don Lemon hated the speech. He despised it. Lemon hated the address so much, in fact, that he berated CNN contributor and former Ohio Gov. John Kasich for being insufficiently critical of the president’s remarks.

It is funny because the former governor at first damned Trump with faint praise. But even that was not good enough for Lemon, who seems interested only in hosting hysterical, hair-on-fire “analyses” from his guests.

“I’m glad he did the address tonight. And I think that was important,” Kasich said Wednesday evening after pointing out some of the other issues he had with the address.

Lemon was beside himself. How could Kasich say such a thing?

“If the president came out to calm people’s fears,” said the CNN host, “he didn’t do a good job of it because they’ve had to come back and clarify it several times! And this has been going on long enough for them to get it straight! We need straight, accurate information from this president!”

“And this administration!” Lemon continued as Kasich attempted to respond. “And we’re not getting it! And I don’t understand why you are tiptoeing around it! He came out, gave an address that usually — that happens very rarely, and he doesn’t get it right?”

“First of all,” the former governor said, “he read it. And somebody that wrote this — look, I don’t want to get into that. He — “

“Well, why not?” shouted Lemon. “That’s why you’re here! To talk about the president’s address!”

“Can I finish now?” Kasich asked.

“No, no, no, no, no! No, you can’t, John!” shouted the host.

“Let me talk,” asked the man invited on by CNN. “Let me talk.”

“I don’t want you to go on and deflect,” Lemon continued, “and talk about something else because we are here to talk about the president’s address! And — and you said that someone else wrote it. He’s the president! Even if someone else wrote it, it should be right!”

It goes on like that for quite a while. Imagine being on the other end of a conversation with John Kasich, and somehow he is the least obnoxious person there.

This is CNN.

The other problem with Lemon’s childish meltdown Wednesday evening is this: If he is willing to strap on the clown shoes for something as important and serious as the coronavirus outbreak, then what won’t he devalue with his partisan theatrics? The answer is this: Nothing. Because Lemon is not a journalist. He’s a partisan activist with press credentials.
