The brother of Jeffrey Epstein, the alleged millionaire pedophile and friend to celebrities and politicians, has raised new doubts about his kin’s shocking jail cell suicide in a new book that promises to put the scandal back in the news.
Mark Epstein, who has largely avoided the media, told the authors of A Convenient Death: The Mysterious Demise of Jeffrey Epstein, that he has also been refused information on the Aug. 19, 2019, death in Manhattan’s Metropolitan Correctional Center.
In a rare interview, he told Alana Goodman and Daniel Halper that while the Justice Department has ruled the death a suicide, he isn’t sure.
“I don’t have a theory. I’m not speculating,” he told them, but he then raised several questions about the evidence in the case, including photos of Epstein’s bruised neck and cloth noose.
He told Goodman, a former Washington Examiner reporter now with the Washington Free Beacon, and journalist and author Daniel Halper, that the noose did not appear to have been cut down by jailer Michael Thomas, but “hemmed.”
In the book set for release next week from publisher Sentinel, he said, “If you look at the picture of the ligature … it was not cut and it doesn’t look like it was tied to anything … look at the angle of the ligature. It was a hemmed edge; it was not cut.”
He also noted that the death photos of his financier brother showed no blood on the noose and that the bruises were inconsistent with a hanging.
Dr. Michael Baden, hired by Mark Epstein’s brother to investigate the death, has said that he believed the bruise indicated a wire strangulation, not suicidal hanging.
What’s more, Mark Epstein and the authors draw new attention to the lack of a working camera in the cell of Jeffrey Epstein, suspected to have been suicidal, and the disappearance of other footage from the cellblock.
At the time, Jeffrey Epstein was in jail facing federal charges for the alleged sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York. He has been linked to former President Bill Clinton and England’s Prince Andrew, among other celebrities.
Mark Epstein said he has sought information about the death but received nothing from the federal government.
Said the book, “Mark Epstein, a Manhattan real estate investor, said in a phone call that so far the feds have refused to provide him with medical records and the names of first responders.”
Because of the salacious charges and ties to Clinton and others, the case has captured the media’s attention, and the book aims to raise more questions about Jeffrey Epstein’s links to them and the death.
For example, it focuses on his relationship with Clinton. Halper has written extensively about Clinton and is the author of Clinton Inc.
The media material sent to Secrets with the book excerpt, for example, described the new book as a “never-before reported look at the Epstein-Clinton connection with new and damning information about the former president’s conduct and the juicy secrets the Clintons wanted Epstein to take to his grave.”
It added that the new information includes details on Jeffrey Epstein’s access to the Clinton White House and “what Clinton told Epstein about his affair with Monica Lewinsky.”
