Pence says the Khans should be ‘cherished’

Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Mike Pence Sunday said both he and GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump believe that Ghazala Khan and her husband Khizr, who mocked Trump during the Democratic convention, should be “cherished.”

Trump has drawn controversy by criticizing the Khans, whose son died fighting for the United States in Iraq. Trump questioned whether Ghazala failed to speak during the convention appearance because, as a Muslim woman, she was prevented from doing so.
